Cavendish makes the banana a royal

Did you know that the name of the today economically most important banana is Cavendish? Named after William Cavendish who had already planted bananas from China in 1830? This William Cavendish was the sixth duke of Devonshire and I’m wondering why the banana’s yellow and not blue. What with the royality and everything..

Full of banana

When nothing goes anymore, bananaskeep going. At the Frankfurter Großmarkt there’s a weekly conversion of about 360 tons of banana. That’s about 3,5 million bananas weekly. And that’s although the zoo is in Berlin. Or am I messing things up right now?

Blondes and banana

Does anyone know, why blondes don’t eat no banana? It’s simple. They can’t find the zipper.

There is no banana!

The bananas you can find in our heights are fruit bananas. You have many different colors, shapes and sizes to pick from. But in the tropical regions, the plantains are so much more important, because they belong to these people’s staple foods.

Cool bananas

Did you know that bananas were only successful as groceries, when people managed to keep the fruits cool? They used to try to transport the bananas on ships by keeping them cool with ventilators. Only with the invention of steam motors and the cooling did the bananas start their successful path into the world.

Banana Flip

Take: One cocktail bowl. Please contain yourself! I don’t mean a whole bucket. Grab the shaker and fill it up with crushed ice, 1 egg yolk, 2 cl of un-whipped cream as well as 4 cl of banana liqueur. Mix it well and fill up the bowl. Grate some nutmeg over it if you have some and that’s it. Tim tim!
