Costa Rica really loves banana

After Minor Keith, co-founder of the United Fruit Company, supported the Costa Rican government financially and systematically with the building of the first train along the Atlantic coast, they honored him with more than 300.000 hectare of territory and a tax-free right of use for 20 years. That was the beginning of the great banana cultivation boom, which is still today Costa Rica’s second-largest money earner after tourism.
