Who invented the Banana split?

This question hasn’t been answered until today. Some say the former lemonade mixer David E. Stickler from Latrobe, Pennsylvania, made this invention in 1904, others are convinced the restaurant owner Ernest Hazard from Wilmington, Ohio, is responsible for the banana split because he was unsatisfied with a student’s competition. He thought he could do better than the lousy students and invented a delicious dessert himself. But well, who really cares as long as the great banana split doesn’t extinct. Right?
